Who is the Dog Trainer?

About

I’m Madison and I teach humans to speak dog. My goal is to help dog owners better understand their furry companions.

My Mission

To effectively communicate what a dog is experiencing to their owners!

Why I Train

From first time dog owners, welcoming a puppy into the home, helping senior dogs through the changes that come with age, to that difficult pup that barks or jumps on everyone, I want to work WITH you to better communicate your relationship. I live for the moments I see a lightbulb in my clients eyes then they get to see the same lightbulb in their dogs eyes. That moment where the owner sees the dog gets it and I know the owner understands...everyone has a party! I firmly believe Positive Reinforcement and Negative Punishment are the most effective ways to teach all dogs how to have the best life with their humans.

My History

I've always loved dogs! From my childhood Vizsla, Belle rode with me in my pink Barbie Jeep to my sugar-faced Ruger. This love for dogs turned into a passion when I was about 14 when my parents signed me and Belle up for the local 4H group in not one but all three categories, Showmanship, Agility and of course Obedience. I spent that summer in classes on how to train my own dog virtually everything you can teach a dog. I learned so much that year, like how to teach a dog to be confident and calm in a very busy environment, what to do after a dog gets scared of something, Through it all, Belle was by my side. Until she passed away one night.

Suddenly we decided I was to train her son we also had, Johnny. Basically this meant, at the end of the training session I was starting over. We had been working with him on most of what Belle was learning, but we had such a long way to go before the fair. Nonetheless, I was very impressed how quickly he picked up everything.

A master of patience and confidence, he WOWED the judges in every category earning us 6th place in Agility, Reserve Grand champion in Showmanship, and 2 Grand Champion ribbons in Obedience. I guess he knew his mom needed one too. Fast forward to 2019 when I enrolled in the Dog Obedience program at Animal Behavior College. This is where the knowledge, skills and passion I acquired in 4H was about to turn into a career. I learned so much how dogs communicate and the incredible impact dogs have on our lives. But the best thing I could have learned is how to effectively communicate what a dog is experiencing to their owners in order to better everyones' lives.
